How to Register to Vote
Register to vote online if you have a Michigan Driver’s License or State ID. Online voter registration is halted 15 days prior to an election.
To register in person: visit your county, city or township’s clerk office, or a local Secretary of State’s office. Find your local clerk
Citizens registering to vote within 14 days of an election, up to and including Election Day must do so with a city, township or county clerk or a deputized staff member, and must show proof of residency in addition to proof of identity (or an ID that proves both). Note: registration on Election Day is not allowed at polling locations.
When eligible citizens who are not already registered to vote complete a driver’s license or personal identification card transaction, they will be automatically registered to vote unless they affirmatively decline. Registered voters will have their records updated if their address or other information has changed
